If you are feeling a bit down, there are a few things you can try to lift your spirits and cheer yourself up.
The key thing to remember is that only you can make yourself happier. It is your own negative thoughts that are making you unhappy, so get rid of them and replace them with thoughts that are positive and optimistic.
1. Go out and make someone smile; it will brighten their day and also cheer you up no end that you have pleased someone. Your immune system will get a welcome boost, your stress levels will drop and you will feel just so much better.
2. A long walk in the great outdoors is good for you in so many ways. Your brain function will get a boost, calories will be burnt off and if you suffer from PMS it’s really good for relieving the symptoms.
3. Introduce more foods into your diet that come from the ground and the trees. Fresh fruit and vegetables are great for controlling your weight, as well as reducing the risks of several chronic diseases and strokes.
4. Picking up a book or magazine has a lot more benefits than merely a way to pass the time. You will learn to concentrate, improve your memory and you will also learn something.
5. Remember that your friends are there for you in good times and bad, so give them a ring or invite them over and have a heart to heart. They will be with you every step of the way.
6. Apart from your friends, there are two other people you should make an effort to spend time with. An older person in their 70′s will give you a valuable insight into a lot of things and a few hours with a young child will put everything into perspective.
7. Make the effort to play some games. These are very relaxing and can also help you to develop new skills and increase your vocabulary. Games online also encourage socializing.
This is a cliche, but life really is what you make it. When you thing about it, we are only on this earth a short time so need to make the most of every day that we are here. Stay positive and make a difference to yourself and others around you.
I found this quote to be true, and I’ve always tried to remember and live by it. This is one of the many inspiring quotes from Abraham Lincoln: ”Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.”
